Project Description
The LuWa project, also known as the "Lighting Plan 4.0" is a 20-year contract and provides for the gradual introduction of new "smart" LED lighting on the main (motor) roads in the Walloon Region, totalling around 100,000 light points.
This is the first sustainable development project managed by MOBIX to replace obsolete sodium lamps with LED lamps with lower energy consumption and a longer service life. It is linked to a system of light intensity variation, which in the long term makes it possible to achieve energy savings of 76%, avoid 166,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions and reduce light pollution.
The renovation plan includes the replacement of sodium lamps by LEDs and the modernisation of the lighting infrastructure: transformers, power supply booths, distribution lines and street lights, on a network of 2,700 kilometres of motorways and national roads (including 400 kilometres of junctions), as well as on motorway and car park parking areas with shared parking spaces.
For Mobix, this represents a turnover of more than €150 million over 20 years.
